Reflections: Rain Garden

Some of my favorite projects to look back on are from my time with Creative Ink, the student-run marketing firm at my alma mater. This rain garden informational graphic is one of them!

This sign was commissioned by the City of Columbia and Stephens College’s student-led environmental activism group to denote a rain garden near campus.
As a member of the environmental group and a designer for Creative Ink, I was uniquely positioned to create the requested infographic.
I researched how rain gardens operate, drafted the copy, cross-referenced the information and reviewed the copy with other members of the activism group and the City employees working with the group, and created the illustration to accompany the info.
I actually recently spotted this illustration on display in another part of Columbia, an additional rain garden! I’m impressed with the city’s dedication to cleaner water tables through natural filtration and am so pleased to have provided a graphic that remains useful, more than half a decade later.
