Design Crush: 1924.us

We live in tumultuous times. In addition to normal ups and downs of everyday life, I personally feel that access to the internet can give us both the highest of emotional highs (cat videos, obviously), and the lowest of emotional lows (most anything terrible that could happen and does happen). I appreciate the artists I follow who help me process my feelings, and inspire me to work through some big emotions through my own art. One of those creators is Christian Watson, who helms 1924.us, a branding and design studio that also creates beautiful animations of a mascot they call Mr. Skelly, paired with insightful statements.

These illustrations were a free pack provided on the 1924.us website, and every one is inspiring. The 1924.us Instagram account is filled with similar animations, and I honestly can’t imagine a better way to draw in like-minded clients with similar styles. This ongoing project does such an excellent job of conveying personality and style, as well as demonstrating technical prowess and successful social media presence.

I’m going through a season of change myself right now, and I’m glad to have the comfort of these illustrations and sentiments. I may even invest in a Mr. Skelly sweater to continually comfort me!
