Reflections: Appreciation Desk

When my partner moved to a new city for a new job, we decided to do long distance for about a year. Then I began job-hunting, and landed a job doing gift fulfillment for Veterans United. Their Appreciation Desk handles their borrower thank you cards and gifts, usually involving gifting borrowers baskets of goodies for their new homes. We sent everything from pet toy and treats to remote controlled cars to everything a family needs for a memorable game night.

My hybrid designer/coordinator position meant I designed unique cards, gift certificates for experiences, mini-coffee cups, and a few internal designs for event invitations and team swag. My favorite team to design for was of course my own team, and I was absolutely thrilled to be tasked with creating our team logo.

One of my absolute favorite things about this logo was getting to see it as a keychain and even re-created in royal icing! As part of our collaboration with the Home-Buying Concierge Team, our team brought these cookies and a few other goodies to their team to show our appreciation for their part in our WOW initiative.

I really enjoyed my time at Veterans United and love the company culture and workflow there. They raised the bar as employers, and while I definitely prefer working as a graphic designer exclusively, I had a blast as part of their Appreciation Team.
